Project Title: Tourism POlicies for a Sustainable Development

Funding Source: The Operational Program for Administrative Capacity, 2014-2020, Priority Axis Eficient Public and  Juridical System, Component 1 - CP2 / 2017 - Increasing the capacity of NGOs and social partners to formulate alternative public policies, Operation - Development and introduction of systems and common standards in public administration, that optimize citizen-driven business decision-making processes in line with SCAP.

Total project value: 955,906.30 lei.

Project duration: 16 months

Beneficiary: The Agency for Sustainable Development of Brasov County (ADDJB)

Project implemented in partnership with APDT - Association for Tourism Promotion and Development in Brasov County and ADER - Association for Economic and Regional Development, under the financing contract POCA / 111/1/1/111701 from 11.05.2018.

The project aim to encourage and improve the involvement of tourism NGOs in formulating and promoting alternative proposals to government policies, initiated by the government, on the issues faced by the tourism industry.

The focus will be mainly on the following proposals:

  • Reducing tax evasion in hotel industry;
  • Security measures in national tourism;
  • Guaranteeing tourist packages;
  • The DMO (Destination Management Organisation) law;
  • The Tourism law.

As well, through project activities will be reached the following goals:

  • Development of specific skills regarding the involvement of NGO and employees of relevant social partners in the process of elaborating and promoting alternative proposals to government policies, initiated by the government. In this respect, training courses - Advocacy and lobby will be organized. Also, to identify and correctly formulate the issues faced by those involved in the field, a course will be organized for Destination Management Organizations managers. Delays and meetings will be organized to propose and analyze possible alternatives to government policies initiated by the government.
  • Increasing awareness and public awareness of community involvement in public life and participation in decision-making processes

The target group of the project consists of 270 people.

Estimated results of the project:

  • 20 people from NGOs and social partners trained in advocacy and lobbying and 20 people trained / trained in destination management, at least 250 people from NGOs and social partners participating in public debates on tourism
  • at least an alternative public policy in the field of tourism
  • at least an alternative public policy in the field of tourism promoted and accepted.
